This association relies on volunteers and donations to help sterilize and treat street and owned animals on Sal. Vets from Germany give up their time twice a year to come to Sal, they work non-stop. If you want to help, even in a small way, please contact Nicki.
The Vets Team for the Sterilization Campaigne will come back to Sal in January 2012,
around the 10th, for a 5 days work in Santa Maria and a 5 days work in
Espargos. more
Now that I have caught up on some sleep and my head is slightly working I want to say a special thank you to some people and give you an update on what's happening at SAR. more
The dogs I see in Santa Maria seem exhausted and I would guess suffer more from lack of water than lack of food. It would be simple for shopkeepers, cafes etc. to put a bowl of water outside, and tourist reps could advise their customers to shop at these
places. Does SAL have a postal address? I would like to make a small donation. Bear in mind that not everyone is on Facebook etc.

Hi.......yes many do struggle to find water. Some of us put out some water using 5ltr water bottles, cut in half and top them up from time to time. Yours is a decent suggestion and I am sure Nicoletta Salvini who now runs the newly named association SOS
Cats and Dogs, would love to hear from you. Her contact details here: Email info@cvcatsandogs.org Website http://www.cvcatsanddogs.org
Hi Francis, Yes, here animals do need help. Our association is very young---but in less then two year we were able to sterilize over 1500 animals and give treatment against ticks/fleas/worms and to treat against mange, very bad skin desease over 2000 animals.
We have to rely on donations for our next camapigne and for keep going with our treatment, so if you like to support us it will be really great. you can contact me directly via email, and in our very very new blogspot there is also the possibility to make
a donation via Paypal... thanks to people like you, that love animals and pay attention to their needs, that like to help, we can hope to keep going. thank you for that. Nicky (Nicoletta Salvini)
The meeting at Josie Regan’s bar was really great, a lot of people
attented it, the two ladies that organized this Vets project said

so my english is not so good)...a beautiful mess with a lot of people
talking and making friends....very nice. expats, italian, portughese,
german, caboverdean....all together with a common interest....
