During the festive period it has already been documented and discussed in great length , how the men spent several hours drinking in Espargos while the girls went Christmas shopping ! .
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who came to support the Official Opening of our new premises of Castelos do Sal on the 9th of February 2012.. It was a wonderful way to celebrate together. The children also came in their best clothes and had a blast! more

It’s 6.30p.m. in Santa Maria and I have arrived with my large Tupperware container at a local bar where I have been from time to time to eat with friends or to have a takeaway. more
Went with you there Cheryl, great little place. David and I went again last week, just sitting outside on the road watching people coming and going. Had 2 Kebabs (while we waited for our main meal) then 2 chicken dinners and a litre of wine cost us 1300CVE
(13 euros) can't beat it. Had some food left as you get big servings, must remember to take a plastic bag next time so we can ask for left-overs to feed the dogs!!
It’s been a funny sort of month, we have had some mixed weather with strong winds and cloudy skies and then also hot cloudless days that we are so used too. Our Xmas shopping trip to Espargos – The Girls’ version................
4 girls’, two Yvonne’s a Linda and a Sally decided to have a girlie day out in Espargos to buy Secret Santa presents for Christmas Day as well as a bit of shopping. Our trip was arranged for the Wednesday before Christmas. However the Boys’ decided they would come too, but have their own ‘Boys’ day out .more
Received a text to say Dave and Tony were launching their new toy (a boat) at 10 a.m. on 17th Dec.2011, down on Praia Antonio Sousa beach, Santa Maria, Sal Island. So of I set to watch this momentous occasion. A number of Expats had turned up to watch the launch too. I and Linda turned up with our cameras so we could record this historic event. Some of the sea faring expats turned up to help. The engine was fixed to the boat. We could see the swell would make it a slightly difficult launch. more
The closure of the Turtle Shack has understandably created some questions and gossip on whether we intend to re-open, and whether Angela and I remain committed to living in, and working in Cape Verde. more
